‘Stand’ing with Flamboyance exhibition

‘Stand’ing with Flamboyance exhibition

‘Stand’ing with Flamboyance is the debut collaboration between Pyramid and Flamingos Coffee House. The exhibition’s title is a pun – ‘stand’ and ‘flamboyance’ are terms used to describe a group of flamingos. It explores different art pieces by artists in and around Leeds who identify as LGBTQIA* and/or disabled, bringing together interconnecting communities/groups of people. Flamingos is a valued space for the Leeds queer community.

This exhibition was organised and curated by Pyramid artists Heather and Leigh. Heather is a learning disabled and autistic artist who enjoys lots of art forms, with an interest in character design and cats. Heather’s characters span many queer, racial and disabled identities, allowing lots of people to make connections and be represented her work.

Artists based in and around Leeds were invited to submit work in any medium that fitted the theme of queer, disabled or queer and disabled identities.
